The Miz

Mike was enrolled in the Miami University Business School, and is an active member of Theta Chi. He started to date fellow sophomore Karissa Long before he was cast as a member of Real World (1992).Birth Date: October 8, 1980
Mike Mizanin was featured as a member of the cast in the tenth season of the MTV reality television series The Real World, titled Back to New York. He is a professional wrestler and TV personality who was born on October 8, 1980 in Parma, Ohio. Mizanin studied at Miami University, and was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He would later go on to attend the Richard T. Farmer School of Business. In the midst of his freshman year, he met and bonded with a former member of the Miami RedHawks, Nick Jardine. Mizanin also got to know Todd J. Hartman, a bodybuilder and gymnast.

Mizanin later on moved to southern California so he could undergo training as an actor. He went on a touring circuit of local high schools and colleges, where he gave motivational speeches and talks. During his college days back in 2001, he dropped out for a chance to appear on The Real World: Back to New York. Among the other television productions he has participated in are Battle of the Network Reality Stars, Road Rules: Northern Trail, The Inferno, and Battle of the Seasons. Mizanin turned his alter ego of “The Miz” into a gimmick for the WWE.

For the WWE, he appears on its RAW brand and is one half of the World Tag Team Champions with John Morrison. He trained with Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW) and Deep South Wrestling (DSW). While with the latter, he became the first Deep South Heavyweight Champion. Soon after, Mizanin was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) and once won the title OVW Southern Tag Team Championship.

Mizanin soon became the host of the annual WWE Diva Search competition, held in 2006. This was followed by his debut as a villain, and was drafted from the SmackDown brand to ECW the next year. It was there that he formed his partnership with Morrison, and the two of them went on to win a title match against Matt Hardy and MVP.

He and Morrison are also the co-hosts of the WWE.com weekly segment known as “The Dirt Sheet,” where they make fun of the WWE rosters.
The Miz is a native of Parma, Ohio and attended Miami University. He later relocated to California and to attend acting classes. He was known for appearing on many reality shows such as 'The Real World', 'Fear Factor' and others. Pursuing the goal of becoming a professional wrestler which he had harbored from an early age, Mizanin joined Ultimate Pro Wrestling, where he trained in the Ultimate University. He made his in-ring debut in 2003. In 2004 he joined the television show 'Tough Enough' were the winner would get a WWE developmental contract and $1,000,000.00. Despite not winning 'Tough Enough', the Miz caught the eyes of the WWE anyways and was offered a developmental contract anyways and was sent to Deep South Wrestling. In January of 2006 the Miz was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling where him and his tag team partner Chris Cage won the OVW tag team championship. In March of 2006 WWE.com featured a video of stating that he was headed to Smackdown and throughout April Smackdown hyped his debut. However, when Mizanin actually attempted to make his debut on the April 21, 2006 edition of SmackDown he was (kayfabe) barred from entering the arena by "network executive Palmer Cannon who told him that he had been "canceled" before having security escort him from the premises. He eventually became a host on Smackdown, doing backstage interviews and WWE diva bikini contest. He hosted the Diva search contest along with Ashley and was kind of seen as a dork by everyone as he would stumble his lines alot and call the divas by the wrong names, he appeared to always be really nervous. When he started to actually have matches, though routinely the underdog, he somehow found ways to win his first five matches. He finally lost one to the Boogeyman at Armageddon. Miz was drafted from SmackDown to ECW on June 7, 2007 as part of the WWE draft. He started a new gimmick for himself of a self-proclaimed "chick magnet". Extreme Expose then became managers for The Miz and the Miz seemed like a man of a new self confidence. He then began feuds with Balls Mahoney, CM Punk and John Morrison. He was voted at Cyber Sunday to face CM Punk for the ECW Championship but lost the match. In November of 2007 the Miz and John Morrison teamed up on Friday Night Smackdown and beat Matt Hardy and MVP for their tag team titles. They have successfully defended their titles on many occasions but it came to an end on July 20, 2008 at the Great American Bash. Miz and Morrison were involved in a four way tag match with their tag team titles on the line. The title was lost even though the Miz or Morrison were neither involved with the cover of the match. Curt Hawkins pinned Jesse giving the tag team title to Zach Rider and Curt Hawkins.

In February of 2008 Morrison and the Miz were given their own streaming segment on the official WWE website called 'The Dirt Sheet'. They would usually mock other wrestlers and the show has became very popular.

After losing the tag titles, Morrison and Miz entered a feud with ECW newcomers Evan Bourne and Ricky Ortiz, who they had previously mocked (and continued to do so) on the Dirt Sheet, as well as an Internet-centered feud with RAW's Cryme Tyme based on which WWE.com online show was the best (between the Dirt Sheet and Cryme Tyme's "Word Up"). Recently RAW's Jillian Hall has also aligned herself with the tag team.

On October 28, 2008 at Cyber Sunday Miz and John Morrison would battle Cryme Tyme. The match was voted by fans as the tag team match that they wanted to see. Miz and Morrison would get the victory in the match.

At Survivor Series on November 23, 2008 Miz and his partner the John Morrison would be on Team JBL along with JBL, MVP and Kane. They would battle Team HBK which consist of Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio, Cryme Tyme and the great Khali. Unfortunately, the Miz and his team lost.

On December 13, Morrison and The Miz won the World Tag Team Championship from CM Punk and Kofi Kingston at a Raw house show.

A long fued came abouts between the World Tag Team Champs Miz and Morrison with the WWE Tag Team Champs the Colons. After months and months the two teams met on April 5th, 2009 at Wrtestlemania 25 with both teams putting their titles on the line. Miz and Morrison were not able to pull out the win and lost their World Tag Team Titles as the Colons became the undisputed tag team champs by holding both tag team titles.

On the April 13 episode of Raw, The Miz lost a match to Kofi Kingston due to Morrison's inadvertent interference, which gave Raw a draft pick in the 2009 WWE Draft. The pick was then revealed to be The Miz, and he subsequently attacked Morrison, ending their partnership. He challenged John Cena to a match on the April 27 episode of Raw, but as Cena was out due to injury, Miz claimed an unofficial win via forfeit and has continued to do this for weeks. Cena ended all the talk when he defeated Miz in a singles match at The Bash.

With the Miz losing the match to Cena, that meant in storyline that he was banned from the Staples Center, Raw and SummerSlam (and Summerfest). The following week, on the August 10, 2009 episode of Raw, Miz competed under a mask as "The Calgary Kid", and won a contract on pole match against Eugene, earning a contract in storyline, and revealing himself by removing his mask afterwards.

With his spot back now on Monday Night Raw. On the August 17, 2009 episode, The Miz announced his intention to challenge for the WWE United States Championship, and also debuted new ring attire and a new finishing move to defeat Evan Bourne.
The real name of The Miz is Mike Mizanin. He entered the world of showbiz with an appearance in the reality show The Real World, hosted on MTV. He studied at Miami University. During his years as a student, he had the chance to meet a former player of the Red Hawks, Nick Jardine, and also some professional wrestlers and bodybuilders. Soon, he discovered that this is the path that he wants to follow, especially because people around him encouraged him to do so.

Today, he is a part of RAW, in WWE, being a part of the Tag Team, along with John Morison, being the first WWE champion from the Deep South Wrestling division. He became the host of Diva Search, in 2006. He decided to be a villain in the competition, and this decision was an inspired one, as the SmackDown talent scouts were looking for a character like him. He was also lucky to find Morrison without a partner, and the deadly combination between those two fighters was proven as deadly, winning the title since their first year on stage, in front of Matt Hardy. He is also the host of a weekly show of WWE, which makes fun of the latest roosters chosen by the WWA scouts.
When you talk to Mike “The Miz” Mizanin one thing is clear — he loves “The Real World.” The WWE Superstar was only 20 years old when he first appeared on “The Real World: Back to New York” (Season 10) in 2001.
It was on the show that he created “The Miz,” a wrestling alter ego that would follow him for the rest of his career. Mizanin is so equated with the nickname that it’s hard to remember that The Miz was actually born on the show instead of a personality Mizanin brought into the house.
“The Miz] was probably on maybe two episodes of the 22 that we did. After that episode of
‘The Miz’ aired, literally I was no longer Mike from ‘The Real World.’ It was always The Miz,” Mizanin explains in a phone interview with Zap2it.
“It was the turning point not only for the show, but for my life in general because after The Miz became who he was it allowed me to realize maybe I could do WWE as a career.”
Mizanin has been playing The Miz for WWE for over a decade now, traveling the world and appearing in movies. He’s done nine reality shows in total and it’s a life he could have dreamed of before he walked through those doors in New York.
It is not just the career opportunities that Mizanin has been able to reap from appearing on the show. He also credits the experience with transforming a naive kid from Parma, Ohio into a more accepting and educated man.
“I sit back and I’ll watch the VHS tapes. I would watch these things and I just cringe at some of the things that I say, but I’m glad that I said them because it made me learn so much more,” Mizanin says. “Sometimes the worst things that you can say really teach you a lot about what you can learn. It made me realize where I was at in my life. I’m glad I went through it because it allowed me to open my mind even more and get educated.”
One of the things Mizanin needed to learn about once he was in the house was not pigeon holing an entire race of people into a stereotype. During the first full day in the house Mizanin made the mistake of telling Coral Smith and Malik Cooper, two of his African American roommates, that his father didn’t hire black people because where he’s from black people are less educated than white people. Smith’s reaction triggered what may be one of the hugest fights in “The Real World” history.
“She wasn’t sure if I was racist, ignorant or just stupid. One thing was for sure she wasn’t going to let me off the hook,” Mizanin says. “I wasn’t racist. I was just telling how my life was and trying to be as open as possible. Then it was more of a learning curve for me for being on the show and being around people that I normally wouldn’t hang around because I wasn’t subjected to them [back home].”
Mizanin is also quick to credit his roommates for helping him grow as a person and for showing him the potential he didn’t know he had before coming onto the show.
“Malik took me under his wing and started educating me. He took me to museums and taught me about certain things. I was more than willing to be open about it.”

While Mizanin was determined to be open from the beginning, that isn’t the case for everyone that comes onto the show. As the show approaches Season 30, there has been more than one person disgruntled with how they were portrayed during their time on “The Real World” — but Mizanin doesn’t have any sympathy for them.
“Let’s put it this way — whatever you give out on ‘The Real World,’ that’s what you see. Some people don’t know how to be real on camera so they don’t like what they see because they just don’t know how to be,” Mizanin says. “When you don’t give all of who you are then you see the person you try to portray and maybe it isn’t you.”
While Mizanin admits that he isn’t a fan of the current reality TV climate, he understands the need for “The Real World” to evolve and stay relevant — and you won’t catch him saying a bad word about it.
“You have to always evolve to keep the audience captivated in what you’re doing and that’s exactly what ‘The Real World’ has done,” he says. “I haven’t looked back since my time on the show. I am all smiles and have nothing but great things to say about MTV as well as ‘The Real World.'”
